BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend 2022 | Gigs in Scotland Featured Artists

BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend takes place in Coventry this weekend and we are all for it! From the 27th to the 29th of May, music lovers in Coventry are in for a treat with some of the hottest artists of 2022 headlining the highly anticipated festival.

Now let’s take a look at some of the acts – especially the ones who will be playing in Scotland this Summer!

Friday 27th May

Jodie Harsh will be taking the Future Sounds Stage, while Bklava will be playing at the Radio Dance Stage!

Saturday 28th May

DJ, singer-songwriter and record producer Calvin Harris will take the main stage on Saturday 28th. Don’t worry if you’ll miss this though – the world-renowned Scottish artist will make his long-awaited return to Scotland at Hampden Park Stadium on Saturday 2nd July and will be joined by MK, Disciples and Arielle Free.

Aitch is also another act that will be playing on Saturday – it’s been a whirlwind few years for Aitch, from first blowing up with ‘Straight Rhymez’ to the cover of The Face. In that short time, he’s had six top 10 smashes, a string of brilliant collaborations including Stormzy, Young T and Bugsey, Russ and many more. The artist will be playing at Glasgow’s O2 Academy in October.

Sam Fender will be playing at the Future Sounds Stage alongside Easy Life, Mimi Webb (who will also be playing at TRNSMT this summer) and Fontaines DC, who was recently selected as the 'Best Band in the World' at the NME awards ceremony in March - if you'd like to see the world's best band play live near you, then grab your tickets now!

Surely we can’t continue without mentioning Pete Tong, who will be performing at the Radio 1 Dance Stage!

Sunday 29th May

British musician Harry Styles is one of the headliners of the festival taking place this weekend. The “Watermelon Sugar” singer will return to Scotland once again on the 11th of June, 2022. The artist’s Scottish gig will take place at the Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow with fans eager to get a taste of the singer’s newest music.

As well as Harry Styles, George Ezra will also be performing at the main stage. The English singer-songwriter and guitarist will also be playing at Glasgow and Aberdeen in September.

The line-up for the Future Sounds Stage looks impressive with Foals, Alfie Templeman and Griff, who will also be playing at TRNSMT. Holly Humberstone, Rina Sawayama and Wet Leg are among other acts who will also be playing at Scotland this summer!
