Since the “Hello. Is Anyone Awake?” EP (January 2020) which sold out on ltd-edition vinyl 1 week after release from word-of-mouth alone, Afflecks Palace have continued to release a steady stream of crowd-pleasers throughout (and despite) the pandemic. Sophomore EP “Everything Is An Attempt To Be Human” (September 2020) sold out on preorder and placed at no. 3 in the UK Vinyl Chart; the band’s maiden 8 date headline tour in September 2021 which followed also sold out, each date a joyous post-lockdown singalong of old - and new - anthems, culminating in a raucous capacity show at Gorilla, Manchester (600 cap).
The debut full-length; What Do You Mean Its Not Raining hit no.20 in the UK album chart - and now; their sophomore album The Only Light In This Tunnel Is The Oncoming Train is here; brimming with psyche-lead beats, glistening guitars and anthemic melodies, carried by reflections, observations, candid humour and a deep vein of northern grit.
J. Fender (singer / producer) says: “For many bands and artists, it is hard to be creatively brave in the music industry in 2022. From the start, we wanted to put out music with no artistic compromises - we live and die by our sword. “The Only Light In This Tunnel Is The Oncoming Train" will be recognised as the best guitar album released in 2022… whether it receives that accolade now or in years to come.”
Lyrically compelling and effortlessly produced by J. Fender (with James Kenosha mixing / John Davis mastering), “The Only Light In This Tunnel Is The Oncoming Train” is an album destined for repeat play and enjoyment – the soundtrack to a new horizon of “I was there” moments.
