The name choice of 'Apna' has caused much confusion in terms of meaning and spelling to fans, presenters and radio DJs alike. The band are therefore no strangers to being called or introduced as Anpa, Antha, The Apna and of course the common recapitalisation of APNA. However, the band have not helped with this issue by never giving a clear and relevant explanation to the meaning of the word, or the reason of choice for the name. Examples given by the band range from 'APNA' being an acronym of the four members' names, though one could find this to not be true, to the the name of a favoured pizza from the band's hometown of Carluke, South Lanarkshire.
With two previously released singles (Black Star and Who’s It Gonna Be?), the band released an eponymous debut E.P in November 2020 which they are confident will bring them a larger audience. Lead Singer Jack Anderson's catchy, yet meaningful lyrics mixed with guitarist Guy Miller's stadium-sized guitar riffs and solos make for a truly immense sound of Rock music inspired by the likes of Radiohead, The Beatles and many more subtle influences. The drums are covered soundly by Ciaran McMorrow who admits himself is hopeless at everything but drums. And finally, bassist Thomas Gareth Wragg works hard to create interesting and effective basslines.
