Catholic Action formed in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2015 where upon impressing on the Glasgow music scene, the band signed an exclusive recording contract and released their debut album, ‘In Memory Of’, on UK label Modern Sky Entertainment in October 2017. The album was later nominated for the much sought after Scottish Album of the Year Award (SAY Award).

In preparation of the release of their debut album, the band took UK Tastemaker festivals by storm, such as: Live At Leeds, The Great Escape and BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend.
The band’s debut single ‘L.U.V’ gained massive support from The New Musical Express (NME), being featured as “Band of the Day”, It was also included on BBC Radio 1’s Radio One playlist, Huw Stephen's 'Tip of the Week' and was included in BBC Radio One’s Annie Mac's #NewNames feature. International recognition followed, the single was played and praised by KCRW’s Travis Holcombe in America. In Spain, the track was added to rotation by Radio 3’s Virginia Díaz
The band’s international recognition extends to the streaming world. On Spotify, the band has received support from Spotify playlists all over the world such as: Feelgood Indie (Germany), Garage Jams (USA), Punk Unleashed (Canada), Rock this World!(Japan), Rock Save the Queen (UK), Alternative Life (Japan), Newest Pop Mix (Japan), Alt Rocked (UK), The Indie List (UK), New Music Friday UK, New Music Friday Taiwan.
Following the release of their debut album, the band performed showcases at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. There,they received plaudits including: KCRW's ‘Top Artists to Watch at SXSW’ and ‘12 bands you need to see at SXSW 2018’.
They followed this with a host of summer festival appearances In July 2018, where the band supported artists such as The Killers and Chvrches in front of 60,000 fans at TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow which cemented their reputation as one of Scotland’s most sought after international exports.
The band signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Los Angeles based Mothership Publishing (Andy Shauf, Tom Waits, Jesca Hoop) in November 2018.
The have already featured in several flagship broadcast shows internationally, which demonstrates their international reach and their commercial prowess, particularly in the American market, with their music featuring in Television shows and brand adverts such as:
