Junk Pups are a queer four-piece punk/country/art-rock band from Glasgow with a bark as big as their bite. Drawing from a wide range of influences from DEVO to Dolly Parton, the band’s growing discography is spattered with some real retro flavourings but remains excitingly modern with equal parts campy and intricate lyricism from lead songwriter Jack Faulds. Faulds’ vocal tone soars from staggering Kate Bush heights into primordial David Byrne yelps into rich Johnny Cash purrs with ease. The combination of this with Ishi Fraser’s effortless blues-inspired guitar skills, Dylan Hutton’s classically-trained bass playing and Sophie Madigan’s infectious drums produces a sound like no other in the local Glasgow scene.
