Mixing big synths, bass hooks and wavy guitars with catchy vocals, Glasgow-based Majesty Palm are a new outfit you’ll want to get to know. With the combined forces of Olivia McCosh’s dreamy vocal qualities and Cameron Robertson’s guitars, the pair presents a striking blend of pop, new wave and funk. Both also supply the addictive synths you’ll be lapping up within seconds of hearing their tracks. The duo’s honest approach to writing pop tunes starts in their home studio, where they self- produce their material and experiment with dipping into a medley of genres. You’ll detect hints of their influences, too, with Tears For Fears, The Blue Nile, Dua Lipa, Sigrid, The Japanese House and The 1975 among their inspirations. It’s no wonder Majesty Palm have such a distinguished, refined sound. Majesty Palm have been lighting up the stage in 2023 with a headline show at The Hug & Pint and slots at Glasgow festivals Stag & Dagger, King Tuts Summer Nights and more recently Tenement Trail. They also took to the BBC studios to perform a live session on BBC Introducing in Scotland. With a growing body of work already banked, McCosh and Robertson’s endeavour here is set to be massive in 2024. They have got a catalogue of singles lined up as well as maybe some other special announcements.
