Even as his hip hop has involved to include elements of rock, jazz, and orchestral arrangements, he has held true to his distinct blend of sometimes funny, often virtuosic, always honest wordplay. An alum of San Francisco's youth spoken word poetry scene, Watsky has appeared on HBO Def Poetry, Ellen, CNN, NPR, PBS, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton Mixtape, toured extensively with his live band, and amassed over 200 million YouTube views. His debut essay collection, How to Ruin Everything (Penguin / Random House), was a New York Times bestseller. In May 2020, to raise money for COVID relief, Watsky set the Guinness World Record for longest rap marathon by continuously freestyle rapping for 33 hours and 33 minutes. He responds to 'George' or 'Watsky,' his family name, and is currently busy working on something more extra than the thing he did before it.
