Bursting onto the scene in 1987, Wet Wet Wet are undoubtedly a musical phenomenon. With an incredible back catalogue of songs including three UK No.1’s – ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ (1988); ‘Goodnight Girl’ (1991); and ‘Love Is All Around’ (1994), the Glasgow lads have made an incredible impact with their music over the years, making them one of the most successful bands in British pop history.

Having sold in excess of 15 million singles and albums to date, featured in the UK official singles and album charts for over an immense 500 weeks, the band have played to more than four million people in dozens of countries around the world. They set a record by playing ten sold out shows at Glasgow’s SECC in 1995, when they were officially the most popular live act in the UK – even out-selling the Rolling Stones who were also on tour that year.

Having formed in 1982 after taking their name from a line in a Scritti Politti song, the band’s first single ‘Wishing I Was Lucky’ was released in 1987 which quickly entered the charts, starting a phenomenal run of 27 Top 40 hits. The debut album ‘Popped in Souled Out’ followed and it too burst into the charts hitting No.1. The singles and albums flowed with their recording success being punctuated by a string of awards worldwide.

Tour by tour, Wet Wet Wet achieved a reputation as one of the best live acts produced by the UK. Their first major tour in 1988 included an appearance at the Nelson Mandela 70th birthday concert at Wembley Stadium, performing to a global TV audience of millions. Whilst 1989 saw them host ‘The Wets in The Park’ concert at Glasgow Green. Further individual live highlights include the John Lennon Tribute show in Liverpool (1990); Isle of Arran Live – broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 daytime (1992); Alton Towers Concert of the Year (1994); Playing Away at Celtic Park (1997); & Live 8 The Long Walk to Justice at Murrayfield Stadium (2005).

2012 saw Wet Wet Wet return to Glasgow Green for a sold out spectacular 25th anniversary concert dubbed ‘Back in The Park’ where once again the band demonstrated exactly why their long standing reputation is rightfully still up there with the best of them. 2013 saw the release of the album ‘Step by Step – The Greatest Hits’, with the title track being one of three new songs that proudly sit alongside some classics from the band’s vast armoury of hits. This was followed with yet another tour that ended in their hometown of Glasgow at the SSE Hydro, a sold out show that was filmed and released in 2014 on DVD & BluRay.

More shows were to come in 2014, when the band performed six shows at various race courses around the UK, the highlight of which being in front of 40,000 people in York. Wet Wet Wet hit the road again in 2016 with The Big Picture Tour, an extensive 17-date arena tour. The tour reached as far as Plymouth and Inverness whilst covering all of England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland. The band have recently celebrated the 30th Anniversary of their debut album ‘Popped In Souled Out’ which was originally released in 1989.
